Mechanical extract ventilation (MEV)

There are 2 types of Mechanical extract ventilation systems, centralised (cMEV) and decentralised (dMEV)

Centralised

A centralised system is a single continuous running unit with multiple connections that can be ducted to wet rooms (kitchen, utility and bathrooms). These units have internal humidity sensors to detect rises in moisture therefore increasing the flow rate and eliminating moisture. They are most commonly fitted in an attic space or cupboard and ducted to outside via a wall/roof cowl

Benefits

- Single unit

- Multiple connections to wet rooms

- Humidity and PIR controlled

- Single exit point through slate/wall vent

- Low maintenance

Decentralised

A decentralised system is a number of single continuous running fans situated in each wet room. They run at a low rate continuously and increase the flow rate when humidity or presence is detected. They can be fitted as a direct replacement for existing intermittent fans, which make them an ideal application where duct runs to a centralised unit are not an option
